2-day course (20hrs) that builds a solid base for people that would like to invest in experience and knowledge when it comes to glaciated terrain and travel skills. The training is intended for recreationalist seeking to potentially become professionals and building up a solid foundation for professional courses in the future.
COURSE DESCRIPTION
The Glacier skills course is based on Sólheimajökull glacier.
Course topics include:
- Route selection
- Hazard identification
- Risk management
- Group management.
- Communication with guests
- Crevasse rescue
- Ice climbing
PREREQUISITES
There are no hard-line prerequisites for this course, but it is recommended that people have;

Basic mountaineering skills

Confidence in basic crampon movement techniques

Intermediate outdoor experience

Basic rope management skills

Knowledge in mountaineering knots

On all courses with Asgard-Beyond, the instructor team is highly certified and experienced. Our instructors are fully certified IFMGA and/or AIMG mountain guides.
